Scam Alert

With the explosion of male enhancement products in recent years, there have been numerous attempts by dishonest storefronts and marketers to take advantage of consumers. The fact that most products are sold on the internet makes scams twice as prevalent for Male Enhancement and Sexual Performance products.

This section of our web site has been designed to give consumers information about frauds and potentially fraudulent marketers currently circulating on the internet.

Alert #1 - Alzare - August 24, 2003
Recent consumer emails have alerted us to a potential situation with a male enhancement product known as Alzare.  Alzare customers have emailed us advising that after ordering Alzare, they have not received their orders. Those customers that did receive their orders are advising that, although they pay over $10 in shipping and handling fees when they purchase, their orders are shipped via the US Postal Service regular 1st class mail. Although the USPS is good about getting the packages delivered within about 5 days once post marked, the issue that consumers have complained about is that it takes anywhere from 3 - 5 weeks to receive their package. Online Consumer Reports placed on order for 1 bottle of Alzare on August 9, 2003 to verify the legitimacy of the complaints. After multiple attempted contacts to Alzare customer service email and telephone, we have yet to receive this product in the mail.

Alert #2 - Stamina RX - June 20, 2003
The FDA has issued a warning to consumers of products manufactured by NVE, inc. Do not purchase StaminaRX, Stamina RX for Women or Sigra. According to FDA investigation, this company has been adding a prescription drug medication to supplements that could be potentially hazardous to consumers' health.

Alert #3 - Automatic Re-billing - July 15, 2003
Savvy consumers need to keep a watchful eye out for web-based companies that automatically charge unauthorized payments for products to their credit cards. In the most common scheme, a consumer purchases a "Trial" or "Free" supply of a product and simply pay the shipping and handling to have it delivered. Unbeknownst to the consumer, the company automatically re-bills the customer's credit card within 3 weeks of the original purchase. Unscrupulous companies then charge clients high prices (some up to $79.95 for a bottle of male enhancement), along with a shipping cost and sales tax. Usually, the unsuspecting consumer, who thought they were receiving an initial supply to try the product out, finds that they end up paying $100.00 or more in the end for a product that is listed on the company's website for $49.95. In many cases, the customer has no recourse against the company, as the "re-billing' disclaimer is hidden deep within the the 'terms and conditions' that the customer signed off on at the time of purchase.

Alert #4 - Reselling of Customer Information - March 17, 2003
Recent consumer emails have are indicating that some online male enhancement companies have been reselling customer information such as names, addresses, phone numbers and prevalently, email addresses. As accusations such as these are very hard to prove in the tangled web known as the internet, we are unable to disclose company names that are suspect of doing this. If you believe your privacy rights have been violated, you can contact the FTC at www.ftc.gov to file a complaint. One solution to the email issue is to open a free email account with a popular service like hotmail, and use only this email when making online purchases. Do not give out your personal email address and it may help to prevent some of the spam that may be making its' way into your inbox.

Alert #5 - Longitude Pills - October 15, 2002
FTC (Federal Trade Commission) investigators have seized the assets of  Scottsdale, AZ based CP Direct, Inc. The FTC has charged that this company knowingly committed multiple crimes against consumers including unauthorized monthly rebilling of customer credit cards as well as making exaggerated claims about their product 'Longitude' which was purported to be able to increase cell growth within the male penis. In addition, CP Direct violated guarantees made to customers by not refunding funds in the event of the product not working.
